Restaurant industry eyes sensible immigration reform

Capitol Hill is accustomed to bitter partisanship.

But eight U.S. senators — four Democrats and four Republicans — just stood shoulder-to-shoulder to introduce a sweeping immigration reform bill. This so-called "Gang of Eight" is comprised of some powerful policymakers, including stalwarts like Sens. Chuck Schumer, John McCain, Dick Durbin, and Lindsey Graham, as well as former House immigration reform veteran Jeff Flake and red-hot upstarts like Marco Rubio of Florida.

If any group of lawmakers can lead an effort to fix America's immigration system, it's this one. Let's hope they're successful. The flaws of today's system are creating a massive drag on the economy. Reforming and streamlining the legal channels for entering this country would provide a serious boost to our economy.
