A team of four puts their dreams and talents to the test in statewide culinary competition

Nerves can unravel in any competition, but four Rock Bridge High School students kept them in check as they competed in the MisouriSkills USA State competition earlier this month.

Chormaic Sullivan, 18, a senior, took first place in culinary arts, and Austin Scoles, 17, also a senior, won first in commercial baking.

This is the 12th year in which the Columbia Area Career Center has sent a state champion to compete in the national contest for culinary arts. Additionally, six out of the past seven years, CACC commercial baking students have won the state championship and competed at the national contest.

But there was more good news for the team of four. Bailey Lawson, 17, a junior, came in second in commercial baking, and Jacob Ventrillo, 17, also a junior, was fifth in culinary arts.
