Meet Ken Carson

Ken Carson started Nexus Brewery 4 ½ years ago after he left a 35-year banking career. One day while enjoying a beer at an Albuquerque microbrewery, he realized that he could create his own brewery and restaurant. 

The Albuquerque native grew up eating his family’s traditional soul food and New Mexican green and red chile, learning how to cook fried chicken from his Grandmother at the age of six.

The big difference for his business is that he listened to the staff and customers for what should be on the menu. A mix of family and employee recipes creating an unusual theme of New Mexican Soul Food. After being in business about year and a half the efforts to differentiate worked out for Ken with a feature in the Food Network’s hit show, “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” with Guy Fieri.

On a day-to-day basis, Ken has turned the business over to his oldest daughter and his other daughter works as assistant kitchen manager. Along with the staff, they bring the experience his loyal customers expect.
